Peer-Review and Editorial Procedure

All submitted manuscripts undergo a comprehensive peer-review process. The editorial workflow includes:

• Technical Pre-Check: Conducted by the Managing Editor to ensure basic compliance with formatting and submission guidelines.

• Editorial Pre-Check: Reviewed by the Academic Editor to assess the manuscript’s suitability for peer review.

• Expert Peer Review: Managed by the Editorial Office, collecting a minimum of two independent review reports per manuscript.

• Real-Time Tracking: Authors can monitor the peer-review progress through the Susy platform.

• Final Decision: Made by the Academic Editor, followed by necessary revisions before final acceptance and publication.

Editorial Decisions and Revision Categories:

• Accept in Present Form: The manuscript meets all criteria and is accepted without modifications.

• Accept after Minor Revisions: Minor changes are required, with a five-day revision period.

• Reconsider after Major Revisions: Substantial revisions are necessary, with a maximum of two rounds of review and a ten-day resubmission period.

• Reject and Encourage Resubmission: The manuscript is rejected but authors are invited to submit a significantly revised version.

• Reject: The manuscript is declined due to serious flaws or lack of originality, with no resubmission option.

Author Support and Publishing Services

English Editing Services: To maintain high linguistic and scholarly standards, SPJ Publication requires manuscripts to be submitted in clear and correct English. The article processing charge (APC) covers minor English editing, but extensive language revisions may require additional paid services. Authors needing rapid English editing can opt for professional language-editing services through Author Services. Reviewers may also use their vouchers for these services.

Funding, Discounts, and APC/BPC Support

• Many funding agencies and institutions allow research grants to be used for Article Processing Charges (APCs) and Book Processing Charges (BPCs).

• Discounts on APCs may be granted at the Publisher’s discretion and should be discussed with the editorial office upon submission.

• Reviewers receive discount vouchers, which can be combined with Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP) and affiliated society discounts.

• Authors affiliated with participating universities receive APC discounts, but only one IOAP discount per paper is allowed, though it can be combined with other discounts.

Market-Specific Taxes

Authors from Switzerland and Japan will have invoices including local taxes as required by their governments:

• Japan: Japanese Consumption Tax (JCT)
